Amagansett resident Gene Samuelson’s carefully observed renderings of beaches, homes and gardens capture the essence of what makes the East End so special to artists and viewers alike. He creates plein air landscapes as well as portraits of houses and gardens in watercolor, ink and pencil. His work varies from delicate and subdued to lush and vivacious.
In addition to making art for his own pleasure and for exhibition, Gene creates garden and house portraits by commission under the name “HomeScapes,” preserving locations that are meaningful to clients. Gene also generously donates his talent to non-profit organizations, including the Peconic Land Trust, East End Hospice and LVIS. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the AAEH.
Now retired, Gene has been an art director, director, executive producer and creative director at agencies and production companies in New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC. He graduated as an illustration major from
The University of the Arts, Philadelphia.
