www.marymilneglassart.comMary Milne, a glass artist, works in both stained glass and warm (kiln formed) glass in her Springs studio. She has studied glass art at Pratt Institute and Urban Glass, both in Brooklyn, and has been actively involved in the medium for the past eight years, producing both landscapes and abstract designs. At Urban she studied under Erica Rosenfeld and most recently Roger Thomas. Her work is both two dimensional and sculpted.Mary is a graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth and New York School of Interior Design. While studying at Interior Design, she became interested in the glass arts. Being an avid gardener, she is influenced by her own and other gardens and the natural surroundings of Long Islands South Fork, particularly the shoreline and adjacent wetlands. Additionally, she is influenced by the great glass art masters, Dale Chihuly and Louis Comfort Tiffany.

“Color is one of the great properties of glass and is more intense in glass than any other material” Dale Chihuly.
The vibrant colors and transparency of glass is what drew Mary to the medium. She uses the variety and intensity of colored glass to form her works.
Mary’s work has been exhibited at the Lehman Gallery at Urban Glass and locally at Ashawagh Hall, East End Arts in Riverhead and the Fiedler Gallery in Greenport. She lives with her husband David and has two grown children.
